Eligibility Requirements
While our committee looks at applicants’ academic accomplishments, we’re equally interested in their personal journeys and how they’ve used grit to overcome difficulties.
To apply, you must be:
A United States citizen
A graduating senior from a public or private high school
Who has:
Maintained an overall average GPA of 3.0
Demonstrated academic promise and continuous GPA improvement during high school
Applications must include:
A 500-word essay describing your “grit story”
Letters of recommendation from two of the following:
An existing teacher
An academic counselor
A mentor
A leader from your religious organization
Proof you have been actively involved in volunteer/service work that benefits your local community or society at large
Signed copy of your volunteer service record (s)
Proof you have been accepted as a full-time student at a four-year college or university, community college, or vocational school
Copy of your acceptance letter
Proof of demonstrated financial hardship
In your essay, clearly articulate your financial situation
