Luv’s Brownies Celebrates 25 Years

On October 21, 1925, one of Cuba’s greatest singers was born. Music legend Celia Cruz recorded hundreds of songs in her lifetime and became an international sensation. If you live in Santa Clara County and you’re not familiar with her most recognizable song, the Cuban anthem “La Vida Es Un Carnaval,” you will be soon. That’s because I blast the song from the Luv’s Brownies dessert truck and play a snippet of it with our mobile app’s push notifications whenever we’re serving our delicious treats.

Why do I have such an affinity for Celia Cruz and her music? I’m part Cuban, Celia is my favorite salsa singer and I started taking dance classes when I was in elementary school. My father taught me how to dance salsa, cha cha and others. I have fond memories of dancing with him in our living room and garage.  Not only is “La Vida Es Un Carnaval” the Luv’s Brownies theme song, but our dessert truck also offers specialty Cuban coffee drinks like whipped Café Cubano espressos. On October 21, 2021, we’re proud to be celebrating 25 years in business on what would have been Celia Cruz’s 96th birthday. Feliz Cumpleaños Celia!

Luv’s Brownies — a brief history

The story of Luv’s Brownies began in my college apartment when I was attending San Jose State University. That’s where I baked my first batch of brownies as a thank-you gift for a friend. I doubled the chocolate by accident and later diagnosed with dyslexia.

After that, my love of baking blossomed into a full-fledged business serving Santa Clara County and beyond. This year on our silver anniversary, Luv’s Brownies is going from strength to strength. We invite you to learn more about us and help us celebrate our big milestone with a purchase of our award-winning heart-shaped brownies. A portion of all of our sales goes to our scholarship fund. Dessert Truck

The most notable part of our business is the Luv’s Brownies dessert truck, which brings our fresh hot brownies, specialty Cuban drinks and ice cream to sweets-craving customers across Santa Clara County. The truck regularly serves area farmers’ markets, including the Rose Garden Farmers’ Market and the Cupertino Farmers’ Market. Customers can also hire the truck for private events, including birthday parties and neighborhood gatherings. 

The dessert truck was a major milestone for Luv’s Brownies and a dream come true for me. I’m especially grateful to all the expert vendors who’ve helped me get the truck going, including Newark Food Manufacturing, Everything Neon for our custom heart-shaped open sign, Sheila Milani Designs, Copyland – ZiptoPrint, ABC Upholstery, Bay Area Car Audio, Matellio (mobile app development), and Ryann of Iggy & Stella Creative Studio.

Brownie Cakes

Then there are our cakes. Oh, our cakes! We offer a number of heart-shaped brownie cakes in different sizes, from a five-inch cake to a fifteen-inch double-layer cake, and they’re all available for delivery in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can also order a party tray featuring six dozen Luv Bites (our signature bite-sized heart-shaped brownies) with a seven-inch custom-decorated brownie in the center.

From house-made caramel to heart-shaped marshmallows to a coffee mug filled with our Luv Bites® (bite-size heart shaped brownies), we offer a wide selection of mail-order gifts. Luv’s Brownies — 25 years strong

When I baked that first batch of brownies for a friend 25 years ago, I had no idea what an exciting future lay ahead. Just as Celia Cruz sings in “La Vida es un Carnaval,” my life has been a carnival as I am blessed and humbled to be able to own and operate a business that brings people joy.
